A shirt worth repeating
The familiar shirt deserves another look. A few small changes can make it the piece you reach for all week.
There is a particular pleasure in a shirt you know by feel. You know where the sleeve sits, which button you leave undone and whether the hem wants to be tucked. Getting dressed becomes a little less of a negotiation.
Start with that shirt tomorrow. With tailored trousers, let the cuff show and keep the neckline open. With denim, try a loose tuck and roll the sleeves once. Over a simple dress, leave it unbuttoned and let it take the place of a light jacket.
The difference is often in the proportions. A full skirt can welcome a shorter, tucked hem; a straight trouser can take a longer line. Look at the outfit as a whole before deciding the shirt needs replacing.
Before buying another version, wear the one you own three different ways. Photograph the combination that feels most like you. Familiar clothes can still surprise you when you give them something different to do.
