One skirt, three ways
Let the skirt bring the colour. Build the rest of the outfit from pieces already doing good work in your wardrobe.
A colourful skirt can feel like an occasion waiting to happen. Try giving it an ordinary Tuesday instead. Once you stop saving it for the perfect plan, its place in your wardrobe becomes much clearer.
For a slow morning, start with a plain tee and flat sandals. Keep the tee soft and the jewellery simple. If the skirt has a print, picking up one of its quieter colours is an easy way to bring the outfit together.
For the working day, add a crisp shirt and a light jacket. Try the shirt tucked, then loose, and notice where each version draws the eye. You are looking for a proportion you enjoy wearing, not a rule to follow.
For dinner, change the texture: a fine knit or a clean, simple tank, with a small bag and a shoe you can walk home in. Keep the skirt constant and change only what surrounds it. Three outfits can begin with one good piece and a little attention.
